Florida Sports BettingHard Rock Bet

Florida sports betting is treated differently than most other U.S. states. The Seminole Tribe of Florida operates the only legal online sportsbook in the state through Hard Rock Bet, following a 2021 compact with the state government that survived multiple legal challenges.

How Florida Sports Betting Works

Florida's sports betting landscape is unusual. Unlike states such as New Jersey or Pennsylvania where multiple operators compete for bettors, Florida grants online sports betting rights exclusively to the Seminole Tribe of Florida through a 30-year gaming compact ratified by the state legislature in 2021.

This means the Hard Rock Bet app โ€” operated by the Seminole Tribe's Hard Rock International โ€” is currently the only legal online sportsbook available to Florida residents and visitors. Other national sportsbook brands that advertise heavily, including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and Caesars, are not legally available for online wagering inside Florida.

Retail (in-person) sports betting is also legal at Hard Rock and Seminole-operated properties across the state. You must be physically located within Florida state lines and at least 21 years old to legally place a wager.

What You Can & Can't Bet On

Professional Sports โ€” Full Markets
NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, golf, tennis, UFC, boxing, and international soccer leagues all available with moneylines, spreads, totals, parlays, and props.
College Sports โ€” Including Florida Teams
Florida is one of the states that allows betting on in-state college teams (Florida Gators, FSU Seminoles, Miami Hurricanes, UCF, USF, and others). Player props on college athletes are restricted.
Live / In-Game Betting
Bet during games as odds adjust in real time. Available for most major sports through the Hard Rock Bet app.
Other National Sportsbook Brands โ€” Not Legal Online in FL
DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, and other brands that operate legally in other states are not legal online options in Florida. Using a VPN to access them while in Florida violates state law.
High School & Youth Sports โ€” Prohibited
No legal sportsbook in Florida (or in any U.S. state) accepts wagers on high school athletics or youth sports.

How to Bet Legally in Florida

Step 1 โ€” Confirm you're 21+ and physically in Florida. Hard Rock Bet uses geolocation to verify you're within state lines whenever you place a wager. Visiting Florida temporarily? You can still bet as long as you're physically present.

Step 2 โ€” Download the Hard Rock Bet app. Available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, or via web. Search for the official Hard Rock Bet application provided by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Step 3 โ€” Create an account and verify your identity. You'll need to provide your name, date of birth, address, and last four digits of your Social Security Number for identity verification (standard requirement under federal anti-money-laundering law).

Step 4 โ€” Deposit funds. Accepted methods include credit/debit card, ACH bank transfer, PayPal, and cash at Hard Rock or Seminole casino cages.

Step 5 โ€” Place your wager. Browse available games, select your bet type (moneyline, spread, total, parlay, prop), choose your stake, and confirm.
